The Website: A Primer

Hello,

There isn't much to say... I designed the layout of the website, and the code was handled in WebPlus 10. (I can't code, not even in VB. So, php and actionscript are out of the question.) The overall design adheres to my natural inclination towards simplicity and legibility. The background color is slightly off-white / easy on the eyes. The type was formated and adjusted in Illustrator and exported in blocks as jpegs. The reason for this is largely because I like Calibri. Unfortunately, Calibri is not a web-safe font as Calibri is only packaged with Windows Vista. For most of us sane people, that doesn't mean much, but for all the crazies who own Mac's it means that they wouldn't be able to read anything on my website... Calibri is nice: Calibri feels very appropriate for a computer sceen, it's not commonly seen (i.e. it's not a default typeface: Helvetica (Helvetica is more suitable for print media anyway.) or Times New Roman.), it's legible, it's sanserif, and the kerning doesn't suck. I use Calibri in my emails and anything that's not going to be printed. I digress... I'll be honest... I didn't want to make a new page for every portfolio piece / art piece on my page... (I don't know php.) So, I have the artwork open in a new window... which I realize is unwealdy but I really have no other options available to me. (Unless I paid for them... but I'm cheap and poor.)
